Mary M. (Evans) Turner, age 81, died August 26, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Born February 8, 1929, she was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph.

Mary was a graduate of the former Convent of the Sacred Heart High School in St. Joseph and attended St. Mary College, Leavenworth, Kansas.

She worked at the St. Joseph News-Press, in several departments, from 1952 until 1976.

Mary was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral and the St. Ann Altar Society of that church. She also belonged to Daughters of Isabella and Ladies of Charity.

She married Lewis A. (Duke) Turner, September 26, 1953, in St. Joseph. He survives of the home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Evans, four
brothers, John Evans, Joseph Evans, Charles (Tye) Evans,
Walter Evans; and sister, Frances Hinckley.

Other survivors include daughters, Mary Lynn (Thomas) Billitteri, Fairfield, Pennsylvania, Lou Ann Adams, St. Joseph; son, Terrence Turner, Seattle, Washington; two grandsons, Lee Adams and David Martin.

Mass of Christian Burial 10 am, Monday St. Joseph Cathedral.

Visitation will begin after 1pm Sunday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm Sunday afternoon. Rosary 5:00 pm Sunday. Entombment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

Steele, Marjorie

Marjorie Steele, 84, Atchison, Kansas, passed away Sunday, August 29, 2010, at a St. Joseph, Missouri, health care center.

Marjorie was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on March 10, 1926. She was raised in Atchison, Kansas. She married Paul Steele on May 28, 1946. She was a homemaker in her own home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Edna Mae (Weldon) Hilton and husband, Paul Steele.

Marjorie is survived by her daughter, Linda Long, St. Joseph, MO; grandchildren, Robert (Renee) Gilliland, Michael (Karla) Gilliland and Tami (Tyler) Justice; and six great-grandchildren, Dusty Rush, Dillon Rush, Alexis Ozment, Hailey Gilliland, Sabrina Justice and Kali Justice.

Mrs. Steele has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. There will be no visitation. A private memorial service will be held at a later date.

Lewis, Virginia L.

Virginia Lewis, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Thursday, August 26, 2010 after a short illness.

Virginia’s life was dedicated to living and witnessing to the Good News, the Gospel. After her graduation from Savannah High School in 1938, she attended Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and was married to the Rev. Lee Lewis in June, 1943. They were partners in ministry – he as a pastor, she as a Christian educator – until his death in 1971. She was long-time director of WMU at First Baptist Church and continued to teach Sunday School until her hospitalization in late July.

Virginia joins a Great Cloud of Witnesses that includes, with all the Saints, her parents and five brothers who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her brother, Herbert Farmer of St. Joseph, two children, Virginia Lee Lewis of Prairie Village, Kansas and Paul A. Lewis of Macon Georgia, one grandson, Timothy M. Lewis of Macon, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Service of Witness to the Resurrection and celebration of life 11 am, Saturday First Baptist Church. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 2pm Friday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to the Memorial Fund of First Baptist Church.

David A. Brown, 55, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, August 24, 2010, at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

David was born on October 16, 1954, in St. Joseph, to Harold O. and Betty L (Barnett) Brown. They preceded him in death.

David worked for HPI until his retirement. He was an avid golfer, fisherman and enjoyed various sports.

Survivors include two sons, Scott (Sephra) Brown and Brian (Tishia) Brown, St. Joseph, MO; four grandchildren; brother, Jerry (Laurie) Brown, St. Joseph, MO and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Brown has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Friday evening at the Chapel.

Westhoff, Buell “George”

Buell “George” Westhoff, 90, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, August 23, 2010 at a local nursing home surrounded by his family.

He was born December 6, 1919, in Kahoka, Missouri, to William and Versa (Forte) Westhoff.

After the death of his mother and due to his father’s illness, Buell was raised in the St. Joseph Boys Orphanage (Tootle Mansion). The orphanage was torn down when Bishop LeBlond High School was built. The Franciscan Sisters ran the orphanage.

Buell married Lillian (Prather) on August 9, 1941.

Buell served his country in the United States Army as a medic. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, bird watching, vegetable gardening and BBQ’s with family. He worked for Swift and Company for 29 ½ years and Continental Can for 10 years.

He was a member of the St. Joseph’s Cathedral.

Preceding him in death were his four brothers, Leo, Harley, Paul and Vick; and a daughter-in-law, Patricia (Cruz) Westhoff.

He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lillian, of the home, three sons; Stan and Rita Westhoff, Gansevoort, New York, Roger and Patricia (deceased) Westhoff, St. Joseph, Mark and Darlene Westhoff, Wellsville, Kansas; two daughters, Mary Ann and Tony Dudik, St. Joseph, Susan and Thom Cathcart, Waycross, Georgia; eleven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A prayer service and rosary will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery Horigan Chapel on Thursday, August 26, 2010 at 10:00 am. Father Bill Walter officiating. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post #359 and the November Team.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Hands of Hope Hospice, or Inter-Serv made in Buell’s memory.

Deatherage, Wilma C.

Wilma C. (Wade) Deatherage, 83, St. Joseph, MO, died Friday, August 20, 2010, at Gower Convalescent Center.

Mrs. Deatherage, a homemaker, also farmed with her husband, Delbert for many years.

Born in Belle Plaine, Kansas, on June 27, 1927, she lived in Kansas for three years before moving to the Camden Point and then Agency, Missouri, areas.

Mrs. Deatherage was a member of Huffman United Methodist Church, in St. Joseph. Mrs. Deatherage was a graduate of Agency High School. She played in the Sing-a-Ling Kitchen Band for many years at the Senior Center.

On December 31, 1946, she married Delbert P. Deatherage in St. Joseph, MO. They moved to the Cosby, Misssouri, area in 1960. He died in 1978. Mrs. Deatherage was also preceded in death by her parents, Creath and Maude Wade.

Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl Knapp, St. Joseph, Kimberly Sommerville, Overland Park, KS; four sons, Colin Deatherage, Smithville, MO, Gary Deatherage, King City, MO, Daryl Deatherage, Llncoln, NE, Galen Deatherage, St. Joseph, MO; eleven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Services 10:00 a.m. Monday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Rev. Bruce Jacobs officiating. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph.

Visitation will begin after 10:00 a.m. Sunday at the Chapel, where the family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening.

Donald R. Ellis, 74, of Clarksdale passed away Sunday, August 15, 2010 at the Veterans Home in Cameron, Missouri.

Don was born February 16, 1936 in Cosby, Missouri to Raymond and Thelma (Brining) Ellis. He was a Supply Sergeant with the United States Army 26 years, retiring in 1996. Don served in Korea, Vietnam, and the Persian Gulf.

He was a member of Clarksdale United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lois Wigger.

Survivors include daughter, Brenda Metallo and husband John, three grandchildren Chris, Carl and Carolyn; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside Services will be this Thursday at 1 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery.

Shirley Ann (Sowell) Felker, 78, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at a local healthcare center.

Shirley was born July 31, 1932 to James and Odessa Sowell in Independence, Missouri. She was a homemaker and worked at Chase Candy. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, having a good time, telling stories and making people laugh.

Shirley married Raymond Felker November 23, 1950, who preceded her in death June 19, 2010. She was also preceded by her parents; son, Edward C. Felker in 2009; sisters, Nina Leavitt, Rusty Howard; and brother, Dale Sowell.

Survivors include children, Gayle (Rick) Strasser, St. Joseph, Michael Felker and Mary Lou Majewski, The Villages, Florida, Pamela (Darrel) Herpel, Savannah, Missouri; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Lauretta Ashworth, Geraldine McGuire, both of St. Joseph; brothers, Rex Sowell, St. Joseph, and Butch Herrington, Kansas City, Missouri

Memorial Service 12:00 pm, Saturday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Matthew W. “Matt” Bailey, 31, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 15, 2010, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in St. Joseph.

Matt was born in St. Joseph on September 4, 1978, to Donald F. and Janet M. Bailey. He was a graduate of Savannah High School, member of Word of Life Church and USCW Union Local #2. He worked in the shipping department at Triumph Foods.

Matt was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Walter C. “Brownie” Brown.

Survivors include his parents, Donald F. and Janet M. Bailey, of the home; sister, Leigh A. Head, Columbia, MO; daughters, Brianna Renee Bailey and Natalie Ann Bailey of St. Joseph, MO; maternal grandmother, Shirley A. Brown, St. Joseph, MO; paternal grandparents, Luther F. and Carolyn Bailey, Tucker, GA, Esther James, Macon, GA and paternal grandfather, Jakie Brisby, St. Joseph, MO; two nieces; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Roup, Maxine A. (Taylor)

Maxine A. (Taylor) Roup passed away on August 15, 2010, at the age of 90. She married Wilfred Roup on December 14, 1941, in Oceanside, CA. Wilfred preceded her in death in 1996. Maxine was also preceded in death by her parents and five brothers.

Survivors include her daughters, Sherry E. Link (Allan) of St. Louis and Bonnie M. Sunderman (Leland) of St. Joseph; one sister, Phyllis J. Ferguson of Rosendale; sisters-in-law, Bessie Taylor of Kansas City, Shirley Taylor of Bolckow and Ruth Taylor; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five step-great-grandchildren, two step-great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Maxine was a lifelong member of the Wyatt Park Christian Church, 50/50 class and Christian Women’s Fellowship. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and baking for her family and friends. Maxine had been employed at Hirsch’s Department Store and American Family Insurance where she retired after 15 years of service.

Services 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment Mt. Auburn Cemetery, St. Joseph.

Visitation will begin after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at the Chapel, where the family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.

Raymond Anthony Alvarez, 58, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at his home.

Raymond was born in St. Joseph, November 12, 1951 to Ralph and MaryAnn (McIntosh) Alvarez. He attended Christian Brothers High School and graduated from Missouri Western State University.

Raymond served his country in the United States Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He worked for Wire Rope, retiring after 20 years.

Raymond was preceded in death by his mother, MaryAnn DeHart and step-father Robert “Bob” DeHart.

Survivors include his wife of 12 years, Donna, of the home; sons, Joshua (Karen) Alvarez, Australia, Justin (Hayley) Alvarez, St. Joseph, Deaken Wylie, Tempe, Arizona; daughters, Brittany Wylie, Grand Island, Nebraska, Angela Hargrave, El Dorado Springs, Missouri; eight grandchildren; father, Ralph Alvarez, Sr.; sister, Connie Riley; brothers, Ralph (Patti) Alvarez, Jr., Rodney (Susie) Alvarez; sister-in-law, Connie Link; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Life at the family home, #8 Lindenwood Lane 12:00 noon, Saturday. Mr. Alvarez has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. There will be no visitation at our Chapel; however a register book is available to sign.

Sue (Weerman) Burk, formerly of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, August 5, 2010, at her mother’s home in St. Joseph to go be with her Lord.

Sue was born on October 31, 1961 in Washington, Iowa, the daughter of Dirk and Karen Weerman and Lora and Jim Riggs.

She graduated from high school in Wellman, Iowa. Afterwards, she moved to Colorado Springs and there married David Burk and became a school bus driver.

Sue later divorced and moved to Tulsa, OK, where she began her Charter Delivery for airline freight companies for eighteen years.

She loved horses and learned to square dance on horses in her spare time.

Sue is survived by her parents; her sister, Kathy (Gary) Fewins; half-sister, Misty; half-brother, Ammon; and her very special brother, Donald and wife, Lynette.

Sue was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, John and Elizabeth Weerman; maternal grandparents, Ernest and Sarah Johnson; and numerous aunts and uncles.

Memorial Services will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, August 13, 2010, at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 7000 SE Highway 169, under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.

Dixie D. (Quillin) Hagler, 73, Amity, Missouri passed away Saturday, August 7, 2010 at a local hospital.

Dixie, a devoted Christian, was born August 29, 1936 to Clarence and Myrtle (Lowe) Quillin in Graham, Texas. She was a nurse’s aide.

Dixie was married to Forrest Hagler and he preceded her in death. She was also preceded by her parents; brothers, Alvie, Jimmy, and Jack Quillin; and sister, Joyce Quillin.

Survivors include daughter, Teresa Turner; three sons, Mike Sutton,
Clarence Sutton and Scott Kempton, all of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Travis, Shawn, Cody and Natasha Sutton, June Gach, April Warner, Rachael, Ryan and Claire Kempton; eight great-grandchildren; and brother, Ronnie Quillen, Graham, Texas.

Mrs. Hagler has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. In lieu of visitation or service at our Chapel, an inurnment will be held in Graham, Texas at a later date.

Nagle, Mary E.

Mary Elizabeth (Wilson) Nagle, 76, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away peacefully Friday, August 6, 2010 in her home. As it was in her life, Mary was surrounded by her loving and devoted children and her spouse, Howard Nagle at the time of her passing.

Mary was born October 22, 1933 to Sidney and Ruth Coil in Stanberry, Missouri, with her adult life in St. Joseph. Mary’s life was full of many loving relationships. She cultivated many enduring friendships during the 25 years she was employed by American Family Insurance as an underwriter.

While retired, Mary continued doing the things she loved; golfing, bowling, gathering with her long time card group and spending time with her children, grandchildren and friends. Mary and Howard spent winters in the warmer climate of Fort Myers, Florida, during which time Mary was able to continue enjoying her love of golf and building new friendships.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Marion, Howard and Wilbur Coil; sisters, Mildred and Frances; and first husband, Charles W. Wilson.

Survivors include her husband; daughters, Jennifer Kneib and Janise Shaffer, both of St. Joseph, Jean Wade, Parkville, Missouri; son, Dean Wilson, St. Joseph; ten grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; stepson, Steve Nagle, St. Louis, Missouri; four step-grandchildren; brother, Robert Coil, St. Joseph; sister Violet Duley, Salem, Oregon.

Visitation will begin after 9 am Monday at our Heaton Bowman Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, where Mary’s family will celebrate her life with friends and family from 6 to 8 pm Monday evening. Roumas, Mary S.

Mary S. Roumas 93, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the local hospital.

Mary was born on December 6, 1916 in Nemea, Greece to Nicholas and Helen Sofikitis. She was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Kansas City, Missouri.

She and her husband operated the Milwaukee Lunch Restaurant in St. Joseph until 1968. She later was a dressmaker for Einbenders.

She married Stephen W. Roumas on August 28, 1938 in Nemea, Greece. He preceded her in death in 1973. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Blondi Sofikitis; three brothers, Adonis, Dino and Michael Sofikitis.

Survivors include her son, William S. Roumas and wife Peisha, Kansas City, Missouri; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one brother, Christos Sofikitis, Athens, Greece; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services 11 a.m. Wednesday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 12:00 noon Tuesday at our chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm.

Schottel, Katheron

Savannah, MO – Katheron L. Schottel, 97, passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at LaVerna Village.

Katheron was born on July 20, 1913, in Savannah, to John L. and Cora Belle (Martin) Clark. She attended Cosby High School and was of the Methodist faith. She was a charter member of Cosby Lioness Club and member of Cosby Sociables Club. She was recognized as the oldest living patron at the Rolling Hills Consolidated Library. She was a homemaker and Cosby Telephone Operator for fifteen years.

Katheron married Kenneth E. Schottel on February 6, 1935, in St. Joseph. He passed away in 1988. She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, James D. Schottel; nine brothers; two sisters and two great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her daughter-in-law, Marilyn Moran, Savannah, MO; grandsons, Rodney (Lori) Schottel, Savannah, MO, Scott Schottel, Cosby, MO and Alan (Dana) Schottel, Cosby, MO; granddaughter, Roxanne Shanks, Cosby, MO; four great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside Service 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Blakely Cemetery under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.

Margurite Roderick, 100, Rosendale, Missouri passed away Wednesday, August 4, 2010 at a Savannah health care center.

Margurite was born December 28, 1909 to Joseph Henry and Clara Missouri (Breit) Nuckols in Helena, Missouri. She graduated from Savannah High School in 1929.

Margurite married Ralph Henry Roderick on December 4, 1935 in Savannah, he preceded her in death April 13, 1984. She helped her husband farm and had also worked at Wyeth Hardware.

She was a member of Rosendale Christian Church and Rosendale Garden Club. Margurite made several prize-winning quilts and shared them with her family and friends.

She was also preceded by her parents; two sisters, Winona Taliaferro, Ann Stanton; three brothers, Grant, Charles and Joe Nuckols.

Survivors include daughter, Mary Kay Lyle and husband, Joe, Savannah; two sons, Ray Roderick and wife, Crystal, Rosendale, Reed Roderick and wife, Vickie, Midwest City, Oklahoma; six grandchildren, Kenna McCracken, Gary, Ritchie and Bryan Roderick, Vonnie Anderson, Marty Lyle; 3 step-grandchildren, Gerald, Glade and Charlie Lyle; ten great-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Berniece E. (Wachter) Brown, 85, Kansas City, Kansas passed away Monday, August 2, 2010 at a Kansas City health care center.

Berniece was born September 30, 1924 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Henry Carl and Louise (Hanke) Wachter. She was a health care technician for Bethany Medical Center for 20 years, retiring January 8, 1982. Berniece was a member of Zion United Church of Christ and Rebekka Lodge #6.

She married Glenn Brown on January 23, 1954 at Zion United Church of Christ, he preceded her in death. Berniece was also preceded by her parents; and one brother, Charles Wachter.

Survivors include cousins, Jerry A. (Carol) Strong, St. Joseph, Francis L. (Gloria) Strong, Wichita, Kansas; Mary Owens, Kansas City, Missouri; step-granddaughter, Diana (Matthew) Rivotto, Belvidere, Illinois ; step-grandsons, Glenn Brown, Woodstock, Illinois, Steven (Julie) Brown, Belvidere, Illinois; step-great-grandson, Jeff (Cindy) Bogarte, Cary, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.

Phyllis White Baker, 71, of St. Joseph, Missouri passed away on Monday, August 2, 2010 at the Living Community of St. Joseph after a long battle with breast cancer.

She was born on April 6, 1939 in Columbus, Ohio, the daughter of Selwyn and Helma Weaver White. She was raised in Gallipolis, Ohio.

Phyllis graduated from Ohio State University with a BSN. She was a member of the Alpha Delta PI Sorority. She worked as a Director of Nursing at Sharon Lane Nursing Home in Shawnee Mission, Kansas and as an office nurse in the Savannah Medical Clinic, retiring as Director of Acute and Sub Acute Rehabilitation at Heartland Health.

Phyllis was a member of Ashland United Methodist Church. She was a master gardener and enjoyed working in her garden and the church garden. She was active in church and several community organizations.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Dr. Warren C. Baker.

Phyllis survived by her children, Jeffrey Tedrow and wife Loree of Bolivar, Missouri; Jennifer Hurley and husband Dan of Sedalia, Missouri; Jody Jordan of St. Joseph, Missouri; one brother, Harry White of Gallipolis, Ohio; eight grandchildren, Sarah, Emily and Molly Tedrow; Brendan, Conner and Casey Hurley and Kelsey and Zachary Jordan.

Services 2 p.m. Thursday at Ashland United Methodist Church. Interment Ashland Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 2 p.m. Wednesday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00pm.

The family suggests memorials to the Living Community of St. Joseph, Hands of Hope Hospice or Ashland United Methodist Church.

Lillard, Maxine

Savannah, MO –Maxine (Praiswater) Lillard, 85, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, Sunday, August 1, 2010, at her home.

Maxine was born on June 24, 1925, near Fillmore, Missouri, to Manford and Mollie (Waegele) Praiswater. She was a member of Fillmore Christian Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing for her family and working in her flower and vegetable garden. She will be missed by all who knew her.

She married Robert ”Bob” Lillard on December 26, 1944, in Troy, Kansas. He passed away in October, 1977. She was also preceded in death by her parents; Uncle Mac Praiswater, who helped raise her; one sister, Charlene Ramsey and two brothers, Oren and Estel Praiswater.

Survivors include one daughter Janice (Bob) Loupe, De Ridder, LA; four sons, Richard (Pat) Lillard, St. Peters, MO, Dennis (Sally) Lillard, Savannah, MO, Rodney (Nancy) Lillard, Savannah, MO and Bob Mac Lillard of the home; grandchildren, Liana (Jared) Vessell, Carrie (Rob) Jandorf, Bob Lillard and Brandi Walker, Jamie (Phil) Brooks, Mollie Lillard, Robin Loupe, Laura Lillard, Maegan Loupe, Amanda Lillard and Ben Lillard; great-grandchildren: McKinley Lillard, Eli Lillard, Luke Vessell, Anna Vessell, Ellie Brooks and Madison Walker; her special loving sister, Wanda (Keith) Thrasher; and sister-in-law, Jessie Praiswater.

The family would like to send thanks to the doctors and nurses at Heartland and special thanks to Dr. A.J. for his kindness and compassion shown to Maxine.

Services 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment Fillmore Cemetery, Fillmore, MO.

Visitation will begin after 12:00 noon Wednesday at the Chapel, where the family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Glore, George

George Glore, 73, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, August 2, 2010.

Mr. Glore was born on February 18, 1937, in Leadwood Missouri, to Firmin F. and Gertrude (Gregory) Glore. He was a member of Unity Church of Christianity. He was employed at St. Joseph State Hospital for 43 years, and was founder of the Glore Psychiatric Museum. He had also worked part-time for J.C. Penney for twenty-five years.

Mr. Glore was preceded in death by his wife, Carlyne; parents; sister, Virginia Huhman and two brothers, William Glore and Jasper “Jack” Glore.

Survivors include his son, Michael P. Glore and wife Jennie, St. Joseph, MO; two granddaughters, Caitlin and Kyra Glore; one sister, Ruth Huether, St. Louis, MO; brother, Firmin F. Glore, Jr., Van Buren, MO; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.

Memorial Service 2:00 p.m. Thursday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. Private Inurnment at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Glore Psychiatric Museum or to American Diabetes Association.
