at his home surrounded by his loving wife, daughter and son.

Bob was born September 05, 1944 in St. Joseph, Missouri to his father and
Leona (Teschner) Hale.

Bob married his childhood sweetheart, Sandie Dowdy, on November 8, 1962
in St. Joseph. She survives of the home. They were a devoted couple and best
friends for over 50 years.

He is mourned deeply by his cherished daughter, Tammi Hale, St. Joseph;
and his devoted son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Irene Hale of Pennington,
New Jersey. Bob is also survived by his mother, Leona; brother, Ricky; and
sister, Debby Perry, all of St. Joseph; brothers and sisters-in law; numerous
nieces; nephews; aunts; uncles; cousins; and countless friends.

Bob graduated from Benton High School in 1962 and attended the old St.
Joseph Junior College. He was an early participant of the Golden Gloves boxing
program at the Wesley Center. He remained a true boxing fan throughout the
years.

He worked for and managed several Green Hills stores for the Fleming Company
throughout the 60’s and 70’s. He was also employed at the Johnson Controls
(formerly Globe Union) facility before becoming a full-time Antique and
Collectible Dealer in the 1980’s.

An avid collector, researcher and dealer, he was considered an experienced expert
in several areas of antiques – which included old toys, antique bottles and fruit
jars, all areas of advertising memorabilia and his final passion of gas and oil
collectibles – petroliana. Bob and his wife traveled from New Jersey to Colorado
doing various shows – setting up and selling merchandise the past 30 years. He
had many great friends among dealers of all ages and persuasions across the
United States. He looked forward to continuing this travel in their retirement
years.

for several years – and a “bottle digger”. He was one of the original members
of the Iowa Gas & Oil Club in Des Moines, Iowa, and was recently recognized
with a plaque for 20 consecutive years of participation and support. He also
enjoyed being a posting member of old gas.com and gas&go pitstop sites.

From a very poor childhood, Bob developed a sharp intelligence and
quick sense of humor. He lovingly passed these traits onto his children.
He learned through trial and error – and had multiple talents from car
mechanics to carpentry & plumbing – he was intrigued with taking
things apart and putting them back together.

Bob was a great animal lover – dogs in particular. Having to give away his
last dog – he lovingly adopted all of the neighbor animals, spoiling them
with belly rubs and dog bones.

He was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. He had a high moral
standard, believing a person was a Christian by the way they lived their life –
rather than the number of times they attended Church. Extremely honest and
forthright in expressing his opinion – he always tempered it with a warm sense
of humor.

He was a member of the Adult Cardiomyopathy group, where he gave and
received much support.

Bob was extremely devoted to his daughter, Tammi and to his son, Jeff – they
were the most important part of his life and legacy.
