Paul A. Hoppe, 92, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, May 27, 2011 at a local health care facility.
Paul was born February 27, 1919 in St. Joseph to August F. and Adelaide (Dietsch) Hoppe. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School with the Class of 1936.
Paul married Betty Ann Johnson on June 5, 1943, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, she preceded him in death on March 6, 2011. A veteran of World War II, he
served in the Army Air Corps Station at Hammerfield in Fresno, California. During the war, Paul and Betty lived in Fresno, where their first child was born. After the war, they returned to St. Joseph, where they have lived since.
After the war, he was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. He then joined the family business, Scanlan’s Hardware, from where he retired as owner/manager, after 40 years.
Paul was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where he was a choir member, Cantor and Eucharistic Minister. He was the first Catholic Cantor in St. Joseph and sang for many occasions at all different Churches.
Paul belonged to American Legion Post #359, Knights of Columbus Council 571, and 4th Degree General Assembly #569. He was a board member of Inter-Serv, Allied Arts Council, Past President of Bishop LeBlond PTA, and also a member of the Southside Rotary Club.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents: son-in-law, Jim F. Evans; brother, Gene Hoppe; sister, Madeline McGarry; and infant sister, Rosemary Hoppe.
Survivors include daughter Beth Hoppe Evans; son, Gary Hoppe and his wife, Barbara; grandson, Chris Hoppe and his wife, Karrey, of Lawrence, Kansas; two nephews, David McGarry and Dennis McGarry.
Mass of Christian Burial 11 am, Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Visitation will begin after 9 am Wednesday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday evening. Prayer Service at 6 pm. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions to St. Francis Xavier House of Bread, St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, or Inter-Serv.

James “Jim” Fry, 64, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Saturday, May 28, 2011.
Jim was born February 24, 1947 in Sterling, Illinois to James R. and Mildred E. (Wilson) Fry. He served his country in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Jim was an auto body repairman. He was an avid car enthusiast, who truly enjoyed the process of rebuilding cars. In addition, he was an outdoorsman that relished any opportunity to camp, fish or hunt.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include son, Jeremy, his wife, Erica, their daughter, Kinsley, St. Louis, Missouri; and son, Preston Fry, Kansas City, Missouri.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm, Wednesday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Mr. Fry has been cremated.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Arthritis National Research Foundation.

Kathryn M. Bender, 92, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away at home with her family at her side, due to some complications.
Kathryn was born in Weatherby, Missouri, and then moved by wagon to Oregon, Missouri, where she was raised on a farm. She was an apartment owner for sixty-five years and worked for G.A. Thompson Wallpaper and Paints for twenty-five years as a paint mixer and decorator. She was also a business lady who owned the Candy Shoppe and the Budget Rose Shop.
Kathryn was an active member and very devoted to St. Peter Lutheran Church. She contributed much of her life taking her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and other children to Church, performing under God as a Disciple. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother and so very dedicated to her family. She was a very special and loving person who never met a stranger.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Burris and Katie Noel; a brother, Billy Noel; her childhood sweetheart, Loren Bender, who was killed on Iwo Jima during WW II; Charles Lesher, who died of war wounds from WW II; Dwain Adams, who was a disabled veteran from WW II; William H. Marlin, who was a big contributor to WW II, building airplanes; and one granddaughter, Deborah Riley.
Kathryn is survived by a daughter, Dixie Jo Glidewell; two sons, Larry N. Bender and Stanley D. Adams; six grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-great-grandchild. She was also survived by a wonderful caregiver, Janis Pritchard, who was also a dear friend along with Annette Clayton.
Mother will be so missed.
The family would like to thank Hands of Hope Hospice for all their caring and support.
Services 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Inurnment Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO at a later date.
Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon Tuesday at the Chapel, where the family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening. The family suggests memorial contributions to Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, to help defray funeral expenses.

Ann Lette, 76, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, May 23, 2011, at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Ann was born on May 15, 1935, in Altha, Florida, to Joseph and Joyce (Guy) Brown. She had resided in California, then moved to Missouri in 1993.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; and grandson, Wayland Pore.
Survivors include her husband, Bob Lette, of the home; daughter, Wanda (Merlin) Pore, Springfield, VA, son, Larry (Shelly) Windham, St. Joseph, MO, daughter, Jacque (Brad) O’Dell, St. Joseph, MO; grandchildren, Larry (Shandi) Windham Jr., Christopher (Missy) Windham, Dr. Timothy Windham, Ashley Windham, William Windham and Avery (Jessica) Pore; great-grandchildren, Bryson Windham, Braylan Windham, Brock Windham, Owen Windham and Cooper O’Dell; nephew, Brian Pottage and friends, Ed and Jackie Carson. Dan Mattson, born July 25, 1947 passed away unexpectedly at is home on May 21, 2011.
Dan married Diana “Sue” Baker, she survives of the home. He worked for the City of St. Joseph for 42 years, before retiring in July of 2009.
Dan enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, camping, boating, and other
outdoor activities. He was an avid poker player and loved playing his favorite music.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Leona Mattson; brother, James Mattson; sisters, Ruth Smith, Carol Blacketer; nephew, Gary Blacketer.
Additional survivors include sons, Rob (Dana) Mattson, James (Michelle) Mattson;
step-daughters, Kim Jensen, Amy (Josh) Baldwin; sister, Pat Meyer, all of St. Joseph; brother, Chuck (Penny) Mattson, LeClede, Idaho; ten grandchildren, MacKinzi, Chandler, Cody, Quinton, Dylan, Cody, Tanner, Breanna, Brittni, Matthias; his beloved dog, Paxton; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial services 10 am, Wednesday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.

Herman “Dutch” Schmidt, 79, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at his home.
Dutch was born July 6, 1931 in St. Joseph. He served his country in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was a switchman for Burlington Northern Railroad for 35 years.
Dutch was married to Laurene Snyder, she survives of the home.
Dutch was preceded in death by his 1st wife, Carol; granddaughters, Melissa Fahey, Darla Pfizenmaier; sister and Margaret Hecker.
Additional survivors include daughters, Ruth (Leo) Reed, Clay Center, Kansas, Deanna Whitlock (Dennis Chipps), St. Joseph; son, Larry Goppert, Assaria, Kansas; grandchildren, Jessica and Shane Johnson, Bryan and Wendy Ringquist, Pfizenmaier kids and families; Carley, Leroy; “the loves of his life” great-grandchildren, Cheyenne, Kaylee, Gunner, Brooke, Hunter, Alexus, Austin, Harley; four step-great-grandchildren; best friend, Walter Chipps; nieces and nephews, Karen, Tim, Andrew, Brian, Bobby, Felicia and Amanda.

at a local hospital..
Dennis was born April 17, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri to Howard and Billie Ruth (Oster) Wagner. He was a maintenance worker at Missouri Western State University.
Dennis was married to Carole Darveau, she preceded him in death. He was also
preceded by his parents.
Dennis loved fishing, and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include daughter, Kristine (Russell) Morgan, Lees Summit, Missouri;
son, Dennis Wagner, Jr., St. Joseph.; grandsons, Keith, Kyle, Ben and Daimond;

Sharon Kay (Honeycutt) Veatch, 69, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, May 23, 2011 at The University of Kansas Hospital, following a courageous battle with leukemia.
Sharon was born June 20, 1941 in St. Joseph to Johnny A. Honeycutt and Ruth (Honeycutt) Kearnes. She graduated from Lafayette High School.
Sharon married Lawrence N. Veatch at Immaculate Conception on December 10, 1960, he survives of the home.
Sharon was a secretary at Dugdale Packing Company for a short time. She was then employed with Gray Manufacturing, working in payroll. She retired after 25 years
in 2003.
Sharon was preceded in death by her father, Johnny Honeycutt.
Additional survivors include her mother, Ruth (Honeycutt) Kearnes; daughters, Kimberly Mulvaney and husband, Ricky, St. Joseph, Lisa McCreary and husband, Mick, Gower, Missouri, Tammy Gleaves and husband, Roger, St. Joseph; son, Chris Veatch and wife, Andrea, Easton, Missouri; grandchildren, Chad, Stephen, and Michelle Blakley, Madison and Parker McCreary, Matthew Gleaves, Barrett and Blane Veatch; great-grandchildren, Jaron and Jaiden Blakley; brother, Ron Honeycutt and wife, Mary, Liberty, Missouri.

Francis Xavier “Frank” Wilcox, 70, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, May 23, 2011, at Kansas City Hospice House.
Frank was born on July 2, 1940, in Jefferson City, Missouri, to Alois and Rita (Boehm) Wilcox. He was a graduate of Bishop Ward High School in Kansas City, KS and earned his bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University. He served as a sergeant in the US Army Reserves and worked for State Farm Insurance for thirty years, retiring as a Bodily Injury and Legal Liability Claims Adjuster, on February 16, 1998.
Frank was a parishioner at Cathedral of St. Joseph. He was also a member of Knights of Columbus Bishop LeBlond Council #5067 and 4th degree General Assembly #569 and held several offices within those organizations. Frank served his faith as a lector, Eucharist Minister and member of the Parish Council. He was an avid volunteer and inducted into the Bishop LeBlond Athletic Hall of Fame in 2007. In addition, Frank had been President of the Booster Club three times. Although his health was failing, he still operated the clock at LeBlond football games and enjoyed doing so. Frank helped coach his children and many other children in baseball, basketball, flag football and soccer. Frank lived his strong belief in God, family and country.
Frank married Suzanne “Suzie” Walzl on November 21, 1969, in Leawood, Kansas. She survives of the home. Other survivors include three sons, John (Susan) Wilcox, Kansas City, MO, Lt. Commander Matthew (Annelise) Wilcox, currently assigned to the USS Enterprise and Paul (Elizabeth) Wilcox, Tucson, AZ; daughter, Kathryn (Nathan) Glynn, Kansas City, MO; four grandchildren, Benjamin, Christopher, Henry and Cecilia Wilcox, three brothers, two sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Cathedral of St. Joseph.

Alexandra Lauren Bracken, 20, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 17, 2011 due to injuries suffered from an automobile accident.
Alexandra was born on March 25, 1991 in St. Joseph to James and Lisa Bracken. She graduated from Central High School in 2010, and was preparing to start at Missouri Western State University this fall. Alexandra was going to focus her studies on counseling, and helping people see their full potential, no matter how bad their lives had been.
Alexandra was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Charles and Geraldine Bracken.
Those left to mourn her untimely death include her parents, James and Lisa Bracken; brother, Erik Stenquist, all of the home; twin sister, Nicole Bracken; nephew, Carter Dilley, both of St. Joseph; maternal grandparents, Richard and Carol Johnson, of Salem, Oregon; many aunts; uncles; cousins and friends.

Elmira Hawkins, 77, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Monday, May 16, 2011 surrounded by her family.
Elmira was born November 11, 1933 in Chicago, Illinois to Frank and Antonia Garcia. Elmira worked for Mead Products, retiring in 2004.
Elmira married George William Hawkins, he preceded her in death on November 28, 1995.
Elmira was a loving mother and grandmother and is survived by her family; son, Tony (Gail) Hawkins; daughters, Marcy (Steve) Foster, Laura (Mark) Judkins; all of St. Joseph; nine grandchildren, Sean, Aaron, Jay, Nathan, Cody, Brandon, Burgundy, Elliott, Sydney; eleven great-grandchildren; sisters, Julie, Mary, Dolly, brothers, Frank, Didlo, Efran, Fifi; numerous nieces and nephews.

Billie Jean (Hahn) Fairman, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2011 at a local hospital.
Billie was born October 4, 1921 in St. Joseph, Missouri to James Edward and Anna Gertrude (McNamara) Hahn. She graduated from St. Joseph Hospital
School of Nursing.
Billie worked as a registered nurse in obstetrics at Sister’s Hospital for more than 20 years. In 1978, she developed the medical office program
for Platte College/Northwest Community College, teaching there until her retirement in 1994.
Billie was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. She also belonged to St. Ann’s Alter Society and had been active in Church ministries.
Billie was married to Waldo “Wally” Fairman on October 7, 1948 at St. Mary Church in St. Joseph, he preceded her in death on September 23, 2007 after 58 years of marriage.
Billie was also preceded in death by her parents; one son, James Gerard Fairman; two sisters, Margaret Cianciolo, Bernice Hahn; and foster sister, Frances Riley.
Survivors include daughters, Margaret Ann Seever, Roeland Park, Kansas, Mary Jo Christie, St. Joseph, Nancy Louise Gilmore, Agency, Missouri, Teresa Marie McAnerney, Wathena, Kansas; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two nieces, Patricia Voisard, Peggy King; numerous great-nieces and nephews.

Jessie Irene (Meers) Jaynes, 88, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away at home, surrounded by her family, on May 15, 2011.
Born May 3, 1923 in Highland, Kansas to Charles and Jessie Meers. She was married to Thomas H. Jaynes in San Diego, California on Nov 21, 1940. Jessie retired from American Family Insurance.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, her parents, three brothers, and three sisters.
She is survived by her daughter Mary (Duane) Bachmann, and son Tom (Sophie) Jaynes, three Grandsons Michael Bachmann, Tommy (Monica) Jaynes and Brian Jaynes (Haley Erickson) and three Great Grandchildren.
Additional survivors a brother, two sisters, and many nieces and nephews.

Diane V. Metzinger, 71, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2011, at Heartland Regional Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer.
Diane was born on September 20, 1939, in Maysville, Missouri, to Cecil E. and Jessie V. (Lawrence) Benson. The family moved to St. Joseph where she graduated from Lafayette High School. She married Donald D. Metzinger and while he was in the Air Force, they traveled throughout the United States and Japan. Following his retirement, they returned to St. Joseph.
Diane raised three daughters and made raising her family her career which she excelled at. She left a legacy of strength and love to her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Diane was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Bryant Hertel; parents and grandparents.
She will be sadly missed by her ex-husband and still good friend, Donald D. Metzinger; three daughters, Julie A. Hertel, Kathie R. Metzinger and Linda D. (Scott B.) Pendleton, all of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Brian (Christy) Pendleton, David Pendleton, Michael Hertel, Jacob and Jenna Metzinger; great-grandchildren, Zachary Fry and Teagan Pendleton; sisters, Dixie (Russ) Leslie, Katy (Stan) Moore, Nancy (David) Bell, Cecelia (Louis) Hendrix; cousins, Sondra (Don) Boucher and numerous other cousins, nieces and nephews.

Shirley was born April 5, 1930 in St. Joseph to Frederick Ceasar and Margueritte (Burford) Bruegger. She graduated from Central High School in 1948.
Shirley worked for Crouch Brothers and later for Mead Products.
Shirley married Lawrence Junior Clardy on June 12, 1948 in St. Joseph, he preceded her in death on February 11, 1996. Shirley was also preceded in death by her parents; one infant son, Mark Clardy; sister, Roberta Barnett.
Survivors include son, Dennis Clardy and wife, Betty Beth, Leavenworth, Kansas; two grandsons, Brant Clardy and wife, Jodi, Suffolk, Virginia, Blaine Clardy, McPherson,
Kansas; twin great-granddaughters, Grace and Aubrey Clardy; brother-in-law, Gary Clardy and wife, Patty; nieces, Cindy Merritt and Sherry Fuston.

Savannah, MO – Klara M. Paxton, 83, of Amazonia, MO passed away Sunday May 8, 2011 at the Cameron Regional Medical Center in Cameron, MO.
Born March 3, 1928 in Ludwigshafen, Germany she was the daughter of Georg and Margarete (Rascher) Nicklis. On May 21, 1955 in Mannheim, Germany she was married to Carl Allen Paxton who preceded her in death September 4, 1991. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two children, Diana Grubb in 2007 and Marty Paxton in 2006; two brothers, Georg Nicklis and Arthur Nicklis and a granddaughter, Kelly Nichols in 2011.
Surviving are two children, Tammy Mallen and husband Kevin of Savannah, MO and Josef Paxton and wife Linda of Nashville, TN; a son-in-law, Jeff Grubb and wife Lanette of St. Joseph, MO; a daughter-in-law, Debra Paxton and husband Gary of Amazonia, MO; one sister, Lilo Hall of Oakdale, CA; one brother, Erich Nicklis of Ludwigshafen, Germany; 16 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Paxton was born and raised in Germany where she attended public schools. She met her husband while he was serving in the United States Army and following their marriage they eventually moved to Amazonia in 1969. She enjoyed cooking and especially spending time with her family. She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 13, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel, with Pastor Laura Blevins officiating. Burial will be in the Benton Cemetery at Mound City, MO. Visitation after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Chapel with the family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the donor’s choice.

Forsyth, MO- Rosalie Maxine Schiltz, 87, formerly of St. Joseph, MO, passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at a Forsyth health care center.
Rosalie was born on March 11, 1924 to Jessie and Mary Ellen (Fritts) Colbert. She was raised and attended school, in Union Town, Pennsylvania. She lived most of her life in St. Joseph. She was a homemaker and of the Christian faith. She and her husband owned and operated Family Tavern in Industrial City.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her parents; nine brothers and sisters; and husband, Michael William Schiltz on September 21, 1980.
Survivors include two daughters, Rose Marie (Bill) Hunter, Overland Park, KS and Katy (Raymond) Puckett; Forsyth, MO; granddaughter, Rosalie Govig; grandson, Michael Puckett; three great-granddaughters, Christina Swope, Amanda Wolfe and Olivia Puckett: three great-great-grandsons, Alexander Wolfe, Keegan Swope and Otto Swope and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO.
Visitation will begin after 11:00 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel, where the family will receive friends 6:00- 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Merle K. Walters, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at
his home.
Merle was born January 8, 1922 in Hiawatha, Kansas to Byron and Inez (Strahan) Walters. He attended school in Hiawatha, and after serving his country in the U. S. Army, during World War II, studied at Gard Business College.
Merle married Viola King June 24, 1943 in La Jolla, California, she preceded him in death October 25, 2002. He was a loss and damage inspector for Western Weighing and Inspection Bureau, for 32 years, retiring in February 1983.
Merle was a member of King Hill United Methodist Church, Eagles Lodge #49,
Moose Lodge and the Independent Democratic Club.
Merle was also predeceased by his parents; twin sister, Marie who died at birth;
and brother, Howard Walters, who died in World War II.
Survivors include, son, Barry Walters and wife, Helen, St. Joseph; daughter,
Kathy L. Cupryk and husband, Roman, Mesa,Arizona; five grandchildren;
and seven great-grandchildren.
Services 10 am, Friday, May 13, 2011 at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Visitation will begin after 9 am, Thursday, May 12, 2011 at our Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 5 to 7 pm Thursday evening. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.

Savannah, MO – Lucille “Sally” (Max) Rucker, 99, Savannah, MO passed away Wednesday May 4, 2011 at Country Squire Retirement Village in St. Joseph, MO.
She was born May 30, 1911 in Niangua, MO to David L. and Rebecca Ann Max. Her family moved to Rosendale, MO when Sally was four years old. After graduating from Rosendale high School, she attended Northwest Missouri University in Maryville. She began her teaching career in the small Andrew County schools of Fountainbeau and Beeler. Later she taught at Maysville and Savannah.
Sally was united in marriage to John Bell Rucker in 1937. John preceded her in death in December 1983. She had nine brothers and sisters who are all deceased.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Savannah. Through the years, Sally played the organ and piano for church services and special programs. She also accompanied the Senior Citizen Center’s Jubileers singing group.
Survivors include her three children and their spouses: Marcia and Art Anderson of Everson, WA, Grace Ann and Curt Blang of Harrisonburg, VA, Dr. Thomas and Cyndy Rucker of Savannah, MO; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Rucker has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith Savannah Chapel. A memorial service will be held Friday May 27, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Steve Thaler officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Willis Edgar Wells, 92, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, May 3, 2011, at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Willis was born on January 14, 1919, in Savannah, Missouri, to George and Bertha Alice (Bullock) Wells. He was a graduate of Savannah High School and Victory Aircraft School in Kansas City, Kansas. He worked for Curtis Wright Corp. in New York City, until joining the Army Air Corps in 1942. He served as a flight engineer on B17’s during World War II.
Willis was also a farmer, carpenter and he retired from Mead after 33 years. He loved fishing, traveling and collecting genealogy. Willis was always ready to help others.
Willis was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Benjamin Clifford Wells.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rosemary (McCampbell) Wells of the home; two sons, Randy (Wanda) Wells and Roger (Melody) Wells; four grandsons, Joe (Sherri) Wells, Jimmy Don Wells, Michael (Holly) Wells and Matthew Wells; one granddaughter, Jennifer (Cris) Williamson; six great-grandsons, Dustin, Steven, Robbie, Travis, Hunter and Keenan; three great-granddaughters, Maddie, Brianna and Kamen; daughters-in-law, Brenda Wells and Debbie Wilborn; and numerous nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.

William Wyatt Johnson, Jr., 86, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, April 30, 2011 at a local health care center.
Junior was born August 24, 1924 in Taos, Missouri to William Wyatt and Lucile E. (Agee) Johnson, Sr. He was a graduate of Graham High School in Graham, Missouri and in 1942 graduated from Iowa State College for Electrical Training.
Junior served his country for four years in the Navy during World War II in the Pacific as an Electrician 1st Class on the USS Pinkney. He witnessed the Japanese surrender on the Missouri from the USS Pinkney. Honors received during his enlistment were Point System, Victory Medal, American Area Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Junior married Bonnie Krumme September 27, 1947, she survives of the home. He was a self-employed dairy farmer for 46 years, retiring in 1993. He was a former member
of the Mid-America Dairymen Association. Junior recently received the Lifetime Achievement in Soil Conservation Stewardship Award from the Buchanan County Soil & Water Conservation District.
Junior belonged to Sparta United Methodist Church. He was a Past Commander and member of MacDonald, Dugger, Duncan American Legion Post #11, member
of the Executive Board, member of the Past Commanders of Post #11 and of 40 & 8. He was a former member of Legion of Moose, Faucett Lions Club of Faucett,
Board of Education of Mid-Buchanan R5 School District, and the Board of Public Water Supply District #2, where he served as President for two years.
Preceding Junior in death were his parents; brother, J. D. Johnson and his wife, Delma; and great-nephew, Jay Yerger.
Additional survivors include sons and their spouses, Steven Wyatt and Shari Johnson, Dennis Earl and Debbie Johnson, all of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Brian (Heather) Johnson, Florida, Kenna Johnson (Steve) Butler, Colorado, Scott Johnson and Lyndsay Johnson (Paul) Callaway, all of St. Joseph; great-grandchildren, Will and Hayden
Johnson, Florida, Evan and Nathan Butler, Colorado, DaKota and Nickolas Johnson, St. Joseph; great-great-grandson, Stetson Williams, St. Joseph; sister, Betty Jean (Bob) Bush, Maryville, Missouri; several nieces, nephews and friends.
