Lee’s Summit, MO-Mary E. “Peggy” Thomas, 86, formerly of St. Joseph, passed away Friday, March 26, 2010, at St. Luke’s East Hospital.
Peggy was born on August 17, 1923, in Evanston, Illinois to John and Mary (Nelson) Greenhalgh.
She married Everett L. Thomas on December 2, 1949, in St. Joseph and they raised three children. Everett passed away on February 19, 2009. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Peggy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a Christian and a USO member. She enjoyed working crossword and jigsaw puzzles and playing dominoes.
Peggy will be sadly missed by her daughter Pamela Grove and husband Terry, Lee’s Summit, MO; two sons, Randy Thomas, of Lee’s Summit, MO and Ronnie Thomas and wife Mindy, of Raymore, MO; one sister, Janice Angsten, St. Joseph, MO; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren with another due in July.
Mrs. Thomas has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman–Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Visitation will be held after 9:00 a.m. Monday at the Chapel where the family will receive friends 1:00-2:45 p.m. Monday. Graveside Memorial Service to follow at 3:00 p.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery. David Mejia officiating.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the Palliative Care Team at St. Luke’s East Hospital and especially to Nurse Pat.
