Elizabeth R. Allen, 91, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at her residence.

Elizabeth was born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 29, 1919.

Elizabeth served in the W.A.A.C, during WW II. She received the Good Conduct Medal, W.A.A.C. Service Medal, American Service Medal, WW II Victory Medal and two Drivers Medals. After leaving the service, she was employed at Lake City Arsenal Plant in Kansas City, MO. She retired from there and moved back to St. Joseph. She worked at Memorial Park Cemetery and various other places as a floral designer, retiring after ten years of service.

Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents Lee and mother, Agnes (Joyner) Allen; four sisters, one brother, close friend and companion of 37 ½ years, Eloise Selby. There are no survivors.

Private graveside services are being held with burial in Ashland Cemetery, under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to a charity of the donor’s choice.
