Tamra “Tammy” R. Bowen, 58, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, January 5, 2010 after a victorious and courageous battle with cancer.
Tammy was born February 16, 1951 to Warren and Ada Bea (Long) Bowen in Bethany, Missouri, where she spent most of her childhood. They later moved to St. Joseph and she was a graduate of Central High School class of 1969. She earned her license and served as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Methodist Hospital, Heartland Regional Medical Center and Northwest Missouri Psychiatric Rehabilitation Center.
She dedicated her life to raising her children. She enjoyed baking, crafting, camping and the outdoors, but her beloved grandchildren were her absolute passion.
Ms. Bowen is survived by her son, Chad Albus, St. Joseph; daughter, Danielle Miller and her husband, Dean of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Drew and Callie Miller; brothers, Gregg, and Dennis and his wife, Susie Bowen all of St. Joseph. Tammy was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Lyndon Bowen.
Funeral Services were held January 9, 2010 at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel. Pastor Aaron Robb officiated at the service. Interment was at the Miriam Cemetery, Bethany, Missouri. The Pallbearers were Dean Miller, Drew Miller, Greg Bowen, Dennis Bowen, Norm Alley and John Poteet.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the McCarthy Baptist Church.
