I want to express my condolences on the loss of your dad and, belatedly, your mom. Your dad was a great guy. Whenever I saw him around the old neighborhood, he always greeted me with a friendly smile and would stick around for a few minutes to talk. When he was coaching the boys basketball team at St. Pat’s, I would referee some of their games, and no matter how many calls I blew, he always treated me in the same friendly way. He put grade-school basketball in its proper perspective, which can’t be said of all the parents there. He and your mom were great partners. I can’t remember many times I saw one without the other. They have been constants in life in the neighborhood for a long time, and their absence will leave a void. Take care.

I was sorry to learn of Paul’s passing. While I was in high school, I worked as stockboy at Scanlan’s Hardware in the late ’60’s. I remember Paul as a kind and considerate man with a gentle sense of humor. Once my car was parked along the side of the store when a sudden snow storm slickened the brick street so badly that I couldn’t get rolling. Paul and Lottie Sten helped push until I got to dry pavement, but the spinning wheels sprayed them with slush in the process. For weeks after that, when I would pass by Paul would silently grab a rag or handkerchief and wipe his face.

My family moved away from in 1970, but I have always remembered my first employer in the classic hardware store in South St Joe.

I only knew Kecia when she was a little girl in 1978. I lived in an apartment above her and her family for about a year and they would babysit for me on occasion. At first Brent couldn’t place Bill, but after I showed him this picture, then it all came back. We reminised about the few Hinky Dinky parties we had. Bill was always very good to me when I worked with him as Ast. Mgr. at the Hinky Dinky in Gateway. Wasn’t that where you two met. You were a couple I was glad that got together. I just heard of Donny’s passing and am so very sorry. Donny’s father and my grandfather were first cousins, I believe. I knew Donny fairly well when he lived here, but lost track of him in later years. I, of course, knew Tommy and his family much better. I lived in the Lancaster area until 8 yrs. ago and then moved to Kirksville, MO. Donny sounded like a real Webster letting people know how he felt by how he looked and what he said. It sounded as though Donny had been ill. I hope it wasn’t something that painful or terribly debilitating. Our family has had a lot of heartache and this is just one more. Please accept my sincere sympathies.

I lived next door to Don, Becky, April and Todd for many years on Plaza street in Springfield, Missouri. Don was always a good friend and neighbor. He was so kind to include my son Zach in many of his and Todd’s adventures. Zach still loves to bowl.
I’ll miss seeing him ride down Plaza street on his riding lawn mower. God bless Becky, April and Todd, I think of you everytime I drive down Plaza. Each of you well always be part of our lifes memory.

i want to leave my memories and my condolences with Donna’s family. i knew her from head start, i work at the YWCA and all the trainings i attended Donna was always in charge of the bus monitors, i remember one fun training we had Donna had fixed up a cute bus and with a car seat inside and we had to put the bear in the car seat. Donna always had fun at our trainings she made it fun.

To Becky, Todd and the rest of Don’s family,

I want to express my condolence to you all in the passing of Don. I am sorry for your loss and you all are in my prayers.

I met Don about 6 years ago at the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office as he was selling adds for our calendar. I was asked by Sheriff Nichols to ride along with Don. I thought this was a chance to get out of the office and did not think much else of it.

After the first few hours of this ride along, I knew we would be good friends. At one time, as we joked around. Don told me to go in a business and sell them an add, while he sat in the van. I joked with Don saying that I would convince them in buying a double-colored add. Don told me to go get-um. Well needless to say, I kept my word, sold the add and walked out to the van. I told Don to get his fat a++ out of the van and give them a receipt. From there our friendship grew.

Over the years, when Don would be in town, he would come over to my house for dinner or we would go out to eat. At one time, we went to the boat in Boonville and had a blast.

I feel sad that we will never joke around anymore or have those times together, but I will forever cherish the times we did have and was very glad to call him my friend.

I went to Benton High School with Donna for awhile and then she moved away. She was a very sweet lady with a great personality. I think that we worked together at Community Discount Word(also known as Shoppers World and Aldens). It was where the MC Sports is located at now. Donna was a caring person and loved her family very much. She will be missed by lots of people. I send my heartfelt sympathy to the whole family.
