1929 – 2010
Shirley (Callison) Dunning, 80, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Shirley was born on December 21, 1929, in St. Joseph, to Linville and Caroline (Dennie) Callison. She was a 1948 graduate of Benton High School, a member of First Christian Church of St. Joseph, and a member of DAR.
Previous to becoming a full-time mother, Shirley worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone; Light & Power; and Schreiber Mills in St. Joseph.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Charles and Robert Callison.
She married Willard Dunning on January 6, 2009. He survives of the home.
Other survivors include her children, Bill Besinger (Karen), Marysville, KS, Laura DuBose (Nick), Dilley, TX, Larry Smith, Denver, CO; sister, Marion Kearnes, St. Joseph, MO; five grandchildren; Five great-grandchildren and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Services 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church, in St. Joseph. Interment Ashland Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, where the family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening.
The family requests memorials to First Christian Church or to a charity of the donor’s choice.
