Robert Albert East
June 4, 1936-May 25, 2010
Having been saved by the grace of the Father through the redemption of the Son, Robert A. East joined the saints in heaven on Tuesday, May 25, 2010.
He was born in St. Joseph, MO on June 4, 1936, to Albert T. and Louise (Rickerson) East. His father preceded him in death; his mother survives.
He was graduated from Pickett High School, St. Joseph Junior College, attended the University of Kansas and served honorably in the United States Army. He spent 38 years with Missouri Department of Transportation, retiring as Chief Design Engineer in January, 1997.
Bob married Barbara Hertel on April 5, 1964. She survives of the home. He was the proud father of two daughters, Lisa (Billy Paul) Miller and Jennifer (Ron) Moore. “Papa Bob” is also survived by his grandchildren, Mandy and Abbey Miller and Gracie and Sam Moore. Further survivors include two sisters, Betty (Jim) Noel of St. Joseph and Lois (Dennis) Justice, Kansas City, Missouri, plus a large extended family.
He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church and served in many capacities, most recently as treasurer of the congregation.
Public visitation will begin after 10 am, Wednesday May 26, 2010 with the family to receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. All who want to celebrate Bob’s life, please join the family for a graveside service at Memorial Park Cemetery Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heaton-Bowman-Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel.
