Oda E. Fankhauser, Jr., 78, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Heartland Regional Medical Center.

Oda was born on August 20, 1931, in St. Joseph, to Lillie Mae (Frizzell) and Oda E. Fankhauser, Sr. He was a graduate of Lafayette High School. He served in the Marine Corp during the Korean Conflict for which he earned a Purple Heart. Oda was a member of Swiss Lodge. He coached boys baseball for twelve years and was known as “Mr. Northside”

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by his wife of fifty-seven years, Connie, of the home. Other survivors include his children, Lynn Fankhauser, St. Joseph, MO, Teresa Fankhauser and husband Erich Uhlhorn, St. Joseph, MO, Jerri Renee Fankhauser, Independence, MO and Rick Oda Fankhauser and wife Amy, Kansas City, MO; grandchildren, Zachary, Brandon, Jeremy, Caleb and Cooper. He is also survived by a brother, Ronald Fankhauser and wife Sue, Fort Collins, CO and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends 12:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday with a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. David Mejia officiating. Mr. Fankhauser has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Inurnment at Memorial Park Cemetery at a later date.

The family suggests memorial donations to a charity of the donor’s choice.
