Raymond C. Felker, 82, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, June 19, 2010, at a local health care center.
Raymond was born on November 21, 1927, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Harley S. and Anna (Gundling) Felker. He was a 24-year career Navy veteran, Chief Petty Officer, during WW II and the Korean Conflict; then worked at UMKC Dental School and later for C & M Appliance. He was involved in sports, photography and took an active role in his children’s lives.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Edward C. Felker in 2009.
Raymond married Shirley Ann Sowell on November 23, 1950, in St. Joseph. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his children, Gayle (Rick) Strasser, St. Joseph, MO, Michael Felker and Mary Lou Majewski, The Villages, FL, Pamela (Darrel) Herpel, Savannah, MO; sisters, Marie O’Neill, St. Joseph, MO and Willette Reeder, Gladstone, MO; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Felker has been cremated. Memorial Service 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Inurnment Ashland Cemetery.
The family suggests Memorial contributions to Heartland Cancer Center in St. Joseph.
