Shirley Ann Felker

Shirley Ann (Sowell) Felker, 78, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2010 at a local healthcare center.

Shirley was born July 31, 1932 to James and Odessa Sowell in Independence, Missouri. She was a homemaker and worked at Chase Candy. She enjoyed traveling, gardening, having a good time, telling stories and making people laugh.

Shirley married Raymond Felker November 23, 1950, who preceded her in death June 19, 2010. She was also preceded by her parents; son, Edward C. Felker in 2009; sisters, Nina Leavitt, Rusty Howard; and brother, Dale Sowell.

Survivors include children, Gayle (Rick) Strasser, St. Joseph, Michael Felker and Mary Lou Majewski, The Villages, Florida, Pamela (Darrel) Herpel, Savannah, Missouri; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Lauretta Ashworth, Geraldine McGuire, both of St. Joseph; brothers, Rex Sowell, St. Joseph, and Butch Herrington, Kansas City, Missouri

Memorial Service 12:00 pm, Saturday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Visitation will begin after 10 am Friday at our Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Friday evening. Mrs. Felker will be cremated following the service. A private family inurnment will be held at a later date in Ashland Cemetery.
