Norma Diana Herpel, 70, Cosby, Missouri, passed away Friday, January 1, 2010 at a local hospital.

Norma was born June 12, 1939 in St. Joseph, Missouri to Jewel Wilbur and Pearl Caroline (Bodenhausen) Theis. She graduated from Savannah High School and Platt Business College.

She was married to Herald W. Herpel on March 6, 1960 in Cosby and he survives of the home. She was a dairy farmer and housewife and a member of Cosby Zion United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Herpel is survived by her sons, Richard Herpel and his wife, Dorothy, Darrel Herpel and his wife, Pam; daughter, Julie Powell; grandson, Zachary Powell; step-grandchildren, Kevin Taylor and Raeanne Erickson; brother, Estel Theis and his wife, Leota; and numerous nieces and nephews. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; and son-in-law, Terry Powell.

Funeral Services were held January 4, 2010 at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith and Sidenfaden Chapel. The Reverend Judith M. Lloyd officiated at the service. Interment was at Zion Cemetery, Cosby, Missouri. The Pallbearers were Justin Herpel, Jeff richter, Danny Shewmaker, John Osborn, Dale Kline and Gale Kline. The Honorary Pallbearers were Mike Riggs and Danny Riggs.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Cosby Zion United Methodist Church or American Cancer Society.
