Gladys E. Johnson, 89, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, May 05, 2010 at her home.
Gladys was born January 28, 1921 to Frank and Ethel (Perkins) Page in Correctionville, Iowa. She graduated from Western Union College in LeMars, Iowa with a teaching degree.
She was married to Harold “Hal” Johnson June 21, 1942, he survives of the home.
Gladys loved golf, bridge, family and friends. She was an active member of Ashland United Methodist Church and belonged to American Legion Auxiliary, Order of the Eastern Star and Moila Ladies Golf Group. Gladys was a hospital volunteer in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, as well as St. Joseph and was a den mother for the cub scouts.
Gladys was preceded in death by parents; son, Harold “Skeet” Johnson, Jr.; sisters, Helen Merrill, Wilma Smith, Marge Bainbridge; and brother, Donald Page.
Additional survivors include daughter-in-law, Nancy Johnson; granddaughter, Debra and husband, Todd “Bo” Bollom, all of Plymouth, Minnesota; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Katelyn; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Gladys invites you to “come meet my family and friends, and maybe say a prayer”. The family will receive friends at 12:00 noon, Saturday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Memorial service will follow at 1 pm. Mrs. Johnson has been cremated. Inurnment at a later date.
The family suggests memorial contributions to American Cancer Society.
