Martha “Connie” Karns, 92, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Wednesday, June 16, 2010 at a local health care center.
Connie was born June 13, 1918 to James and Ada (Bird) Shipley in
Wynne Wood, Oklahoma. She was a waitress at Holiday Inn and Pony
Express Motel and retired as head cook at Joyce Ray Patterson Senior Citizens Center.
Connie loved all sports, singing in public and was an avid bowler.
Preceding her in death were her parents; and sons, Timmy, Kenneth, Jr. and George Karns.
Survivors include granddaughters, Lesa Lynn of Kansas City, Missouri,
Elaine Lichtenauer and husband, Mike of Lenexa, Kansas, Jodi Chamblin and husband, Mark of Bentonville, Arkansas; great-grandsons, Tyler Lynn, Casey and Kyle Chamblin, Drake Lichtenauer and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Karns has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. The family is planning a graveside service at a later date. A register book is available for signing at our Chapel.
