John “Warren” Laukemper, 75, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, June 23, 2010, at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Warren was born on August 23, 1934, in Warsaw, Missouri. He was a graduate of Lafayette High School and served in the Air Force during the Korean Conflict.
Warren worked as a carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and later also worked in the Vehicle Maintenance Department. He was a member of Francis Street First United Methodist Church and NALC Union #195. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and a life member of NRA; St. Joseph Rifle & Pistol Club, and he loved his farm.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Laukemper; mother and step-father, Lois (Reital) and Harry Lawrence; two step-brothers; aunts, Eunice Reital and Minnie and Charles Ozenberger and several other aunts and uncles.
John married Norma J. Thompson on April 27, 1972 in St. Joseph, MO. She survives of the home. Other survivors include his son, Terry Turner and wife Julie, St. Joseph, MO; two grandchildren, Aubrey and John Tyler Turner, who were the pride and joy of his life, and several nieces and nephews.
Services 1:00 p.m. Saturday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 12:00 noon Friday at the Chapel, where the family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday evening.
The family suggests memorials to National Rifle Association (NRA) or to the Leukemia Association.
