Donald E. Loehr, 71, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Saturday, October 23, 2010, at his home, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Donald was born on June 25, 1939, in Kansas City, MO, to William and Dorothy (Bryan) Loehr. He was a graduate of Leavenworth (KS) High School and served in the US Navy from 1957 to 1962.
Donald worked as an electrician through I.B.E.W. for forty years, retiring on June 25, 2001. He also had been an instructor for Hillyard Technical Center.
Donald was a member of Zeredatha Masonic Lodge #189, A.F. & A.M.; Charity Lodge #331, A.F, & A.M.; a 32 degree Scottish Rite Mason; member of York Rite Bodies and a member of Moila Shrine Temple.
Donald married Marlene Hoecker on December 15, 1962, in St. Joseph. She survives of the home. Other survivors include two daughters, Debbie Breckenridge and husband Kirk, St. Joseph, MO, and Cindy Hopkins and husband Ed, Savannah, MO; grandchildren, Abra Wooland and husband Paul, Bryan Kern, Justin Hopkins and Courtney Hopkins, all of St. Joseph; great-grandchild, Remi Woolard, St. Joseph,MO; sister, Ginger Johnson and husband Jim of Kansas; and several nieces and nephews.
Services: 11:00 A.M. Thursday, October 28, 2010, at The Edge Christian Fellowship, 2501 S. Belt Highway, St. Joseph, MO. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 27, 2010, at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, where the family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. Mr. Loehr will be removed from our Chapel Thursday morning to arrive at the Church one hour prior to the Service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Shriners Children’s Hospital; Hands of Hope Hospice or to The Edge Christian Fellowship.
