Martin D. Logan, Sr., 90, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Sunday, June 13, 2010 at his home.

Martin was born January 24, 1920 to Martin Alva and Lula May (Mathers) Logan in Arkoe, Missouri. After his third birthday, his family moved to St. Joseph.

Martin married Dorothy Wolfing on October 10, 1942 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in St. Joseph. She preceded him in death on October 11, 2007, after 65 years of marriage. Martin was also preceded by his parents; son, Timothy M. Logan; three brothers, Harry, John and Chuck Logan.

In December 1942, he joined the Army, where he became a technical sergeant in the 10th Armored Group. While serving in Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe, he received three bronze service stars. Martin was discharged in 1945. In 1939 he began his career as an electrician, retiring in 1983 at age 63. He was a 70 year member of the IBEW Local # 545 and belonged to American Legion Post #359. Martin was an avid golfer and made two holes in one after the age of 78.

Survivors include sons, Martin Logan, Jr. and his wife, Patti, John Logan and his wife, Mary, Greg Logan and his wife Connie, all of St. Joseph; daughters, Marcia Rostock and her husband, Jacob, St. Joseph, Barbara Mejia and her husband, Stan, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; 14 Grandchildren; three Step-Grandchildren; 14 Great-Grandchildren; 4 Step-Great-Grandchildren; and 4 Step-Great-Great-Grandchildren; sister, Viola Weddle, Phoenix, Arizona; several nieces and nephews.

Services 1 pm, Wednesday Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. David H. Mejia officiating. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will begin after 1 pm Tuesday at our Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday evening.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church or donor’s choice.

Pallbearers: Blain Logan, John Paul Logan, Eric Logan, Josh Logan, Brian Logan, Hunter Logan, Blake Mejia and Jody Hovey.
