Clarksdale, MO-Marie Mooney Dixon, 87, passed away Wednesday, January 20, 2010, at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Marie was born March 13, 1922, in St. Joseph, Missouri, to Frank E. Liechti, Sr. and Letha V. (Hogue) Liechti. She graduated from Lafayette High School. She worked for Kresge’s and later T.G. & Y, but was a homemaker most of her life. She belonged to Clarksdale Christian Church.
She married Glenn Mooney in 1945. Glenn passed away in 1959. Marie married Vernon Awbrey in 1965. In 1968, she moved to the Clarksdale area. Vernon passed away in 1980. She married Thair Dixon in 1981. He passed away in 1990. Marie was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include her son, Louis (Cheryl) Mooney, Altoona, Iowa; three step-children, David Awbrey, Jefferson City, Rosalie Awbrey, St. Joseph and Marsha (Dean) Weber, Greeley, CO; sister, Ruth Mooney, Camdenton; grandchildren: James Mooney, Glenn Mooney and Michelle (Kent) Farver; and five great-grandchildren.
Services 11:00 a.m. Monday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO.
Visitation will begin after 9:00 a.m. Sunday at the Chapel. The family will receive friends 2:00-4:00 p.m. Sunday.
