Norman (N.A.) Mayhew, Sr., 73, St. Joseph, Missouri passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at his home.
Norman was born April 24, 1936 to Norman Hite and Ethel Irene (Merritt) Mayhew in Savannah, Missouri. He attended Lafayette High School. Norman married Patricia Butterfield on December 12, 1953 in St. Joseph, Missouri and she survives of the home.
He was an installer for Branson Heating and Cooling for 23 years and later retired from Silgan Container, in 2002, after 22 years as a press operator. He belonged to Sheet Metal Workers Union # 2 and was a former member of Eagles Lodge.
Norman loved any kind of fishing and watching the eagles up at Squaw Creek game refuge.
Preceding Norman in death were his parents; and one brother, Johnny Mayhew.
Additional survivors include son, Larry Mayhew and his companion, Jackie Phinney; daughter, Ronda Stanart and her companion, Mike Russell; son, Norm Mayhew and his wife, Staci, all of St. Joseph; son, Mike Mayhew and his wife, Gayle of Dekalb, Missouri; brother, Robert Mayhew of Cheyenne, Wyoming; sisters, Karen Johnson of Bastrop, Louisiana, Rosalia Welter and Maria George, both of St. Joseph; ten grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Dave McClain of White Cloud, Kansas; sister-in-law, Wanda Boller of St. Joseph; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services 2pm, Friday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Visitation will begin after 12:00 noon, Thursday at our chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 pm Thursday evening. Inurnment at a later date.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Hands of Hope Hospice.
