Savannah, MO-Robert “Bob” M. Dunn, 78, passed away Thursday, January 21, 2010, at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Bob was born on June 21, 1931, in Guilford, Missouri, and was raised in Bolckow, MO. Following High School, he worked for a while, before joining the Marines in 1952.
Following his military service, he returned home and married Barbara Cavey on August 14, 1955, in Bolckow. They started a family and Bob began his life career in the trucking industry, driving over-the-road for Swift, Dugdale, Rainbow Bread and Mid Cities. Following retirement, he drove for OATS and delivered Meals on Wheels.
Bob was an active member and board member of Rosendale Christian Church and past Commander of Dick Munkres American Legion, Post #287. He enjoyed playing pool, talking with friends and he never knew a stranger.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Dunn and Ruby (Jennings) Dunn Goff; step-father, Ovie Goff and brother, Byron Dunn.
Survivors include his wife Barbara of the home; son, Bruce Dunn and companion, Brenda Tritten, Helena, MO; daughter, Sandra Dunn (Steve) Brooks, St. Joseph, MO; grandchildren, Mark, Jeff, Wade, Andrew and Samantha; one great-grandchild, Kaden; sister, Donnelle (Don) Hutson, Bolckow, MO; brother Dick (Tina) Dunn, Maitland, MO and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services 2:00 p.m. Monday at Rosendale Christian Church. Interment Bolckow Cemetery, Bolckow, MO. Visitation will begin after 9:00 a.m. Sunday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, where the family will receive friends 3:00-5:00 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Dunn will be removed from our Chapel Monday to arrive at the Church one hour prior to the Service.
The family suggests memorials to Rosendale Christian Church or Dick Munkres American Legion Post #287.
