Glenn E. Smith, 58, St. Joseph, Missouri, was taken from us Thursday, June 24, 2010.

Glenn was born January 8, 1952, in St. Joseph, MO, to Harold and Bonnie (Hill) Smith. He was a 1970 graduate of Mid-Buchanan High School and attended Vo-Tech in Kansas City, earning an associates degree in business. Glenn was a member of Odd Fellows and Masons. He was a dedicated Chiefs and Royals fan. He was an avid fisherman and he loved to cook.

He worked eighteen years as supervisor for Wonder Bread Bakery. He was manager of Kings convenience store, Regional Manager of Kwik Pantry convenience stores and manager of U.S. Oil. He was awarded Store Manager of the Year in 1994.

Glenn was a compassionate, loving and dedicated husband, father, son, brother, uncle and faithful friend, who will be greatly missed!

Glenn was preceded in death by his father, Harold Smith, brother, James Smith and great-grandson, Talyn Pfleiderer and nephew, A.J. Smith..

Survivors include his wife of twenty-eight years, Louretta Smith of the home; mother, Bonnie Smith, sisters, Pamela Angst, and Karen Smith; brothers, Bobby, Alan and Mike Smith; daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and Gregg Gates; step-daughter Stephanie and son-in-law, Ronald Heitman, Jr.; step-sons, Jeffrey and Ronald Cornelius, Jr.; seventeen grandchildren; one great-grandchild; numerous nieces, nephews and many, many, friends.

Services 1:00 p.m. Monday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will begin after 9:00 a.m. Sunday at the Chapel, where the family will receive friends 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. Sunday evening.

The family suggests memorial contributions to American Heart Association.
