James L. “Jim” Springs, 78, of St. Joseph, passed away Tuesday, February 21, 2012, at a local healthcare facility.
Jim was born on February 26, 1933 in Oregon, Missouri to Walter and Della Mae (Legg) Springs.
Jim married Laura Marguerite Kunzelmann on January 19, 1964 in St. Joseph, Missouri
Jim worked as a mechanic at Armour & Company, a member of the American Legion, and was in the Air Force during peace time.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, JR, Gerald, Ned, Carroll and Alfred Springs; and sister, Geneva Embrey.
Surviving family includes, wife, Laura (Kunzelmann) Springs, of the home; daughter, Lori (Ron) Buhman-Bull; son, Tim (Mary) Springs, daughter, Karen Chipps, all of St. Joseph; brothers, Charles Springs, of St. Joseph; Fred Springs, Mt. Prospect, Illinois; sisters, Doris McQueen, and Erma Peery, both of St. Joseph; grandchildren, Taylor Buhman, Brynna Buhman, Jimmy Springs, Stacy Springs, Venessa Libolt, Robert Strickland, Felicia Chipps and Amanda Chipps; and several great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Services 1:00 PM Friday, at Heaton Bowman Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel.
Interment Mount Auburn Cemetery.
Visitation will begin after 9:00 AM Thursday, at our chapel. Where the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.
The family requests memorial contributions to United Cerebral Palsy or the American Cancer Society.
