Jeanette Mary (Klein) Stock, 85, St. Joseph, passed away on Tuesday, March 2, 2010 in St. Joseph. The daughter of J. Bernard and Johanna (Wessling) Klein, the fifth of six children, was born in Chillicothe Missouri.
She was a graduate of St. Joseph Academy, Chillicothe, Missouri. She married Gerald (Jerry) John Stock Sr. on January 21, 1950, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in St. Joseph. A homemaker for many years, she was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, served as an officer of the St. Anne’s Altar Society, and was Cub Scout den mother. In later years, she and her husband, Jerry, owned and operated Jerry’s Antiques on Frederick Ave in St. Joseph. She loved her grandchildren, saying they were “like a bouquet of flowers, each different and each special.” She took delight in her great-grandchildren and loved to watch them grow and change.
She is survived by her children, Mary Ann Hager and husband David of Houston, Texas; Gerald J. Stock Jr. and wife Gwenith of Longview, Texas; Raymond M. Stock of St. Joseph; Joan Unger and husband David of Overland Park, Kansas ; and Nancy Bullimore and husband Michael of Gower, Missouri. Mrs. Stock is survived by 18 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Irene Crotty and husband Charles Crotty Sr. of St. Joseph.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald (Jerry) J. Stock, parents, three sisters, one brother, and one grandson, Staff Sgt. John C. Stock, USMC.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church on Saturday, March 13 at 10:30 a.m., with a rosary preceding the ceremony at 10:15 a.m. The Celebrant will be Father Robert Rost, Mrs. Stock’s nephew and godson.
Visitation will begin after 3 p.m. Friday, March 12, at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph, where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. A parish Rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m at the Chapel. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, St. Joseph.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church or St. Francis Xavier Catholic School in St. Joseph.
