Savannah, MO-Mary “Doris” Turnbull, 90, passed away Friday, April 9, 2010, at La Verna Village Nursing Home.
Doris was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, on January 19, 1920, to David and Mary (McComb) Swope. She was a member of Kirschner Community Church. Doris was a homemaker, a devoted mother and grandmother.
Doris married Donald I. Turnbull on October 22, 1939, in St. Joseph. He passed away on October 5, 2004. She was also preceded in death by her parents and sisters, Nadine Burrell, Irene Webb and Zella Nichols.
Doris is survived by four daughters, Donna (Ken) Adams, Savannah, MO, Joyce (Sam) Thrasher, Trafalgar, IN, Connie (Ed) Kincaid, St. Joseph, MO, and Barbara (Juan) Gregorio, St. Joseph, MO; seven grandchildren, Kenya Johnson, Steve Adams, Kyle Adams, Eric Thrasher, Tara Shaffer, Robyn Oustad and Chris Elkins-MacFaden; fourteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
Services:11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. Interment King Hill Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO.
The family will receive friends Tuesday morning, one hour prior to the Service.
The family suggests memorial contributions to the Ronald McDonald House at Children’s Mercy Hospital or Kirschner Community Church.
