Mary M. (Evans) Turner, age 81, died August 26, 2010 at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Born February 8, 1929, she was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph.
Mary was a graduate of the former Convent of the Sacred Heart High School in St. Joseph and attended St. Mary College, Leavenworth, Kansas.
She worked at the St. Joseph News-Press, in several departments, from 1952 until 1976.
Mary was a member of St. Joseph Cathedral and the St. Ann Altar Society of that church. She also belonged to Daughters of Isabella and Ladies of Charity.
She married Lewis A. (Duke) Turner, September 26, 1953, in St. Joseph. He survives of the home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Evans, four
brothers, John Evans, Joseph Evans, Charles (Tye) Evans,
Walter Evans; and sister, Frances Hinckley.
Other survivors include daughters, Mary Lynn (Thomas) Billitteri, Fairfield, Pennsylvania, Lou Ann Adams, St. Joseph; son, Terrence Turner, Seattle, Washington; two grandsons, Lee Adams and David Martin.
Mass of Christian Burial 10 am, Monday St. Joseph Cathedral.
Visitation will begin after 1pm Sunday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm Sunday afternoon. Rosary 5:00 pm Sunday. Entombment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
The family suggests memorial contributions to MIR House or St. Joseph Cathedral.
