Robert ‘Bob” Whitten, 86, St. Joseph, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 26, 2010, at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Bob was born on August 21, 1923, and was a lifelong resident of St. Joseph, MO. He was a graduate of Central High School and served proudly in WW II. Bob retired from Armour & Co. after forty years of dedicated service. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.
Bob was an avid golfer and continued to golf daily into his early eighties. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his loving family.
He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, Virginia, of the home; daughter, Sherre Luginsland and husband Richard; grandson, Douglas Schaag and wife Dawn; great-grandchildren, Gavin and Caroline; a brother Norman Leibfried and sister Henrietta Stucker, all of Kansas City, MO
Memorial Mass 11:00 a.m. Monday at Horigan Chapel. Father Tom Ludwig officiating. Inurnment Mt. Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Horigan Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to the Junior Golf Program at Fairview.
