Katherine Jean Wilde, 81, St. Joseph, MO; passed away Sunday, February 12, 2012, at a local hospital after a long battle with pulmonary disease.
Katherine was born on November 15, 1928 in West Point, Nebraska to Henry and Helen (Zeplin) Wilde. She was a graduate of Central High School.
Ms. Wilde enjoyed working and visiting with people so much, she did not retire until turning 82. Katherine worked as a clerical assistant for Wyeth Hardware. After her retirement, she then worked at the St. Joseph Museum, Ashland United Methodist Child Care on Sundays and the Open Door Food Kitchen.
Katherine was a very dedicated Hallmark card writer, touching many lives and hearts with her kind words and thoughts. Ms. Wilde was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where she belonged to the Altar Society and Daughters of Isabella. Katherine loved her nieces and nephews, her family and friends were very special to her.
Ms. Wilde was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Robert H. Wilde and sister-in-law, Rose Marie Wilde.
Katherine is survived by a brother, Donald (Mary Pat) Wilde, Warsaw, MO; Nieces, Jennifer (Robert) Hoffman, St. Louis, MO; Bridget (Morris) Matthias, St. Joseph, MO; Katherine (Mark) Mason, Wichita, KS; Nephews, Joseph (Lynn) Wilde, Houston, TX; Thomas (Maria) Wilde, Angelton, TX; Christopher (Mariah) Wilde, Luling, TX.
Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 am Thursday at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church. Interment Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Visitation will be held after 12:00 pm Wednesday, at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, where a Daughters of Isabella Rosary will be held at 2:00 pm.
Ms. Wilde will be removed from our chapel at 3:00 pm to arrive at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, where the family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 pm Wednesday. Parish Rosary at 6:30 pm. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial donations to the Open Door Food Kitchen or St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.
