Audra Jean Yarnell, 85, St. Joseph, Missouri, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, March 28, 2010, at Vintage Gardens of St. Joseph.

Jean was born on August 17, 1924 in Clarksdale, Missouri to Charles and Mae (Wurfele) Johnson.

She was raised in the St. Joseph area, and was a very active member of Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church, where “Miss Jean” worked with the Pre-School children. She worked in food services for the St. Joseph School District.

“Miss Jean” loved gardening and cooking. She especially loved going to her granddaughters’ ballgames. She was known for her award winning Strawberry-Rhubarb pies.

Jean married Tom Yarnell on June 12, 1948. He passed away on December 27, 1995. She was also preceded in death by her parents, one sister and three brothers.

Survivors include her son Steve (Terri) Yarnell and daughter Carol (Steve) Griffin and granddaughters, Bailey and Blair, all of St. Joseph, MO and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services 10:00 a.m. Wednesday at Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church. Pastor Gary Burchett officiating. Interment Memorial Park Cemetery, St. Joseph, MO.

Visitation will begin after 9:00 a.m. Tuesday at Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, where the family will receive friends 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Frederick Boulevard Baptist Church Building Fund.
